1st Roade Beavers visit

12th March 2025

We often host visits from local groups who want to find out more about our work. On Tuesday 11th March 2025 it was the turn of 1st Roade Beavers. The children brought along their donations which they helped to weigh in and record. Then they learned about the checks we carry out – looking at the best before dates, checking for damage and making sure the ingredients and allergy information is legible. After doing all this the Beavers were able to put their donations away on our shelves ready for our volunteers to pack into emergency food parcels.

We talked about what goes into an emergency food parcel and the reasons why people sometimes need our help. The Beavers asked a lot of questions and were pleased to learn that we also provide dog and cat food. We were also asked  if we try to meet the dietary needs for people who may be vegetarian, diabetic or have allergies – the answer is yes.

At the end of their visit the Beavers were keen to help let everyone know which items we were most in need of this week and held up examples to illustrate. They proudly left with a Thank You card from Towcester Foodbank in recognition of their hard work and the amazing donations.
